Tebow Re-Works Throwing Motion for NFL

Tim Tebow, one of the most decorated college football players of all time, has faced questions about his unorthodox throwing motion and how that would translate to the NFL.

After a horrendous showing at Senior Day last month, Tebow has taken to answering those doubts. Tebow has been focusing on taking three- and five-step drops, instead of working out of a shotgun formation, and he’s been holding the ball around his shoulder instead of his waist, like he did while he was at Florida.

“I’m not changing who I am or how I approach football,” Tebow said Sunday night from Nashville.

“But there are things that I can get a lot better at — my fundamentals. I’ve never been asked to shorten or quicken my release and not have a loop in it. The changes I’m making have gone very well and it’s becoming more and more natural to me.”

Tebow has brought in a team of ringers to help his improvement, including former NFL offensive coordinator Zeke Bratkowski, Arizona State’s new offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone, and former NFL head coach Sam Wyche.

“You’re not looking at the same quarterback,” said Bratkowski, who’s also worked with Chargers QB Philip Rivers and Eagles QB Michael Vick. “To say we’re there 100 percent where we want to be, no. But we’ll be more improved come pro day than we are at this point in time now.”

Florida falls to Xavier, 76-64

The Florida Gators could not hold serve on their home court in a disappointing, 76-64 loss to the visting Xavier Musketeers.

Florida trailed by seven at halftime and at one point found themselves down 16 points, but they were able to tie the game up with just over 13 minutes remaining.

Maybe the Gators simply expended too much energy trying to mount a rally, but things quickly went downhill from that point forward.

Chandler Parsons led the Gators with 15 points while three other players were able to reach double-digits. Vernon Macklin finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

It’s always tough to take a break from the conference schedule only to have to play another quality team, but the Gators should have been able to take care of business on their home floor.

Florida holds off Alabama, 66-65

The Florida Gators held off the Alabama Crimson Tide for a huge, 66-65 SEC road victory.

Erving Walker had 14 second half points for the Gators, and no two were bigger than those he scored with 11 seconds remaining to give Florida the lead.

Florida led by four with just under two minutes to play, but Alabama scored five unanswered points to lead by one heading into the final seconds of the game.

Alabama had a chance to tie, but missed a layup. The Crimson Tide got the rebound and called timeout with three seconds to play, but the inbounds pass was batted away.

In the parity-filled SEC, every win is big, especially when you can grab one on a quality opponent’s home court.
